Required tools and materials:
* Set of wrenches or screwdrivers
* New exhaust manifold gasket
* New thermostat housing gasket
* New automatic transmission oil cooler gasket
* New automatic transmission radiator
* Coolant drain container
* New antifreeze
Precautions:
* Allow the engine to cool before starting operation.
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Use caution when handling coolant as it may be toxic.
Step by step instructions:
1. Draining the coolant
* Place a container under the radiator.
* Unscrew the radiator drain plug.
* Allow all coolant to drain.
2. Removing the old automatic transmission radiator
* Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission radiator to the thermostat housing.
* Loosen the clamps on the hoses connected to the automatic transmission oil cooler.
* Disconnect the hoses from the oil cooler.
* Lightly rock the automatic transmission radiator to disconnect it from the thermostat housing.
* Pull out the automatic transmission radiator.
3. Installation of a new automatic transmission radiator
* Install a new thermostat housing gasket.
* Carefully insert the new automatic transmission radiator into place.
* Install the radiator onto the bolts securing it to the thermostat housing.
* Tighten the bolts.
* Connect the hoses to the oil cooler and tighten the clamps.
4. Replacing gaskets
* Replace the exhaust manifold gasket.
* Replace the automatic transmission oil cooler gasket.
5. Refilling with coolant
* Screw the drain plug on the radiator.
* Pour new coolant into the expansion tank.
* Warm up the engine to operating temperature and check the coolant level.
*Add coolant if necessary.
6. Battery connection
* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
7. Checking the cooling system
* Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
* Check for coolant leaks.
* Make sure the radiator fan turns on and off properly.
