Required tools and materials:
* Oil for Hyundai SP-III automatic transmission (8-9 liters)
* Automatic transmission pan
* Pan gasket
* Washers for drain and filler plugs
* New drain and fill plugs (optional)
* Container for draining used oil (at least 10 liters)
* Funnel
* Set of keys or sockets
* Torque wrench
* Gloves
* Carburetor or brake cleaner
Procedure for changing the oil of a Hyundai Tucson automatic transmission:
1. Safety first
* Place the car on a level surface.
* Park the car in the parking lot (P).
* Apply the parking brake.
2. Preparing the car
*Allow the engine to cool before operating.
* Raise the front of the car using a lift or jack.
* Remove the engine protective cover (if equipped).
3. Draining used oil
* Locate the automatic transmission pan drain plug. It is usually located at the bottom of the pan and has a hex head.
* Place a container to drain the used oil under the drain plug.
* Unscrew the drain plug and drain the used oil.
*Wait until all the oil has drained.
4. Replacing the gasket and filter (if necessary)
* Remove the automatic transmission pan by unscrewing the mounting bolts.
* Clean the surfaces of the pan and gearbox housing from the old gasket.
* Install a new gasket on the pan.
5. Putting the pallet in place
* Apply a light coat of sealant to the edge of the pan.
* Reinstall the tray and tighten the mounting bolts.
*Tighten the bolts with a torque wrench to manufacturer specifications.
6. Refilling with new oil
*Locate the filler plug on the side of the transmission.
* Insert a funnel into the filler plug.
* Fill with new Hyundai SP-III oil. Most Hyundai Tucson models require 8 to 9 quarts of oil.
* Fill the oil until it starts to flow out of the filler hole.
7. Installing the filler plug
* Screw in the filler plug and tighten it with a torque wrench.
8. Checking the oil level
* Start the engine and allow it to warm up to operating temperature.
* Shift the gear selector to all positions and return to Park (P).
* Check the oil level in the automatic transmission using the dipstick. The oil level should be between the «min» and «max» marks.
9. Installing the engine protective cover
* Reinstall the engine protective cover (if removed).
10. Cleaning and reset
* Clean all tools and parts used during the oil change.
* Reset the oil change counter as recommended by your vehicle manufacturer.
Adviсe:
* Change the oil in your Hyundai Tucson automatic transmission in accordance with the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule.
* Use only genuine Hyundai SP-III oil or its equivalent.
*If your automatic transmission oil is dark or has a burning smell, the filter may need to be replaced.
* Drain used oil when the engine is still warm so that it drains out more easily.
* Be careful when removing the pan bolts as they may be tight.
