Replacing the Hyundai Starex automatic transmission oil filter

Materials:

* New automatic transmission oil filter (original number: 46321-4C200)
* ATF oil (check the recommended type for your specific vehicle model and year)
* Automatic transmission pan gasket (original number: 21513-4C000)
* Automatic transmission pan plug (original number: 21511-4C000)
* Rags
* Key or screwdriver for removing the automatic transmission pan
* Funnel for oil filling

Steps:

1. Prepare the vehicle: Place the vehicle on a level surface, set the parking brake and allow the engine to cool.

2. Locate the transmission pan: It is usually located at the bottom of the transmission.

3. Remove the transmission pan: Using an appropriate wrench or screwdriver, carefully remove the bolts or screws securing the transmission pan. Be careful not to damage the gasket.

4. Remove the old filter: Remove the old oil filter from the automatic transmission pan. Be careful not to spill oil.

5. Install a new filter: Insert the new oil filter into the automatic transmission pan. Make sure it is securely fastened and in place.

6. Clean the automatic transmission pan: Clean the automatic transmission pan from old oil and debris using a rag. If necessary, replace the automatic transmission pan gasket.

7. Install the automatic transmission pan: Install the automatic transmission pan in place and tighten the bolts or screws in accordance with the required tightening torque.

8. Add New Oil: Using a funnel, pour the recommended amount of ATF into the transmission.

9. Check the oil level: Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Then check the oil level using the dipstick; it should be between the «MIN» and «MAX» marks.

10. Reset the automatic transmission adaptations (if necessary): If you have changed a significant amount of oil, you may need to reset the automatic transmission adaptations so that it can re-adapt to the new oil. The reset procedure varies depending on the model and year of the vehicle; Consult the owner’s manual or consult a qualified mechanic.

Note:

* It is recommended to change the automatic transmission oil filter every 30,000-60,000 km or in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
*Always use only the recommended type of ATF oil.
