Tools and materials:
* New automatic transmission temperature sensor
* 17 mm socket wrench
* 10 mm spanner
* Flat head screwdriver
* Pliers
* Container for collecting automatic transmission fluid
* Funnel
Replacement procedure:
1. Preparation
* Place the vehicle on a level surface and block the wheels with wheel chocks.
* Stop the engine and let it cool.
2. Draining the automatic transmission fluid
* Place a container under the vehicle under the automatic transmission drain plug.
* Loosen the drain plug and drain the automatic transmission fluid.
3. Disconnecting the electrical connector
* Locate the automatic transmission temperature sensor, usually located on the transmission housing.
* Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor by pressing the latch.
4. Removing the sensor
* Loosen the sensor bolt using a 10mm spanner.
* Using a flat-head screwdriver, carefully pry and remove the automatic transmission temperature sensor from the transmission housing.
5. Installing a new sensor
* Clean the threads and surface of the gearbox housing.
*Lubricate the new sensor O-ring with a small amount of transmission fluid.
* Screw the new automatic transmission temperature sensor into the transmission housing and tighten the bolt using a 10 mm spanner.
6. Connecting the electrical connector
* Connect the electrical connector to the new automatic transmission temperature sensor.
7. Filling automatic transmission fluid
* Tighten the drain plug and fill the automatic transmission fluid through the filler plug.
* Use a funnel to carefully pour in the liquid.
8. Checking the fluid level
* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
* Check the automatic transmission fluid level using the dipstick. Make sure the level is between the «MIN» and «MAX» marks.
* If necessary, add or drain fluid to adjust the level.
9. Checking the work
* Drive the car for a short time.
* Check for automatic transmission fluid leaks, and also make sure that the automatic transmission temperature sensor is correctly transmitting readings to the dashboard.
Adviсe:
* use high-quality automatic transmission fluid recommended by the car manufacturer.
* Do not over-tighten the sensor bolt.
* when draining automatic transmission fluid, follow the instructions for its disposal.
