Internal sensors:
* Input Shaft Speed Sensor (ISS): Monitors the speed of rotation of the transmission input shaft.
* Output Shaft Speed Sensor (OSS): Monitors the speed of rotation of the transmission output shaft.
* Gear selector lever position sensor (PRNDL): detects the position of the gear selector.
*Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) Sensor: Monitors the temperature of the transmission fluid.
*Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor (PFS): Measures transmission fluid pressure.
* Throttle Position Sensor (TPS): Monitors the position of the gas pedal.
External sensors:
* Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS): Monitors vehicle speed.
* Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor: Detects the position of the engine crankshaft.
*Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor: Measures the amount of air entering the engine.
Sensor functions:
These sensors provide the electronic transmission control module (TCM) with information about the health of the transmission, engine and vehicle. This information is used to control gear shifting, torque converter lock-up and other transmission functions.
