How to change gears on a Hyundai Solaris with an automatic transmission (automatic transmission)

1. Pressing the brake pedal

Always depress the brake pedal before changing gears to prevent the vehicle from accidentally moving.

2. Gear shift lever

Position the gear shift lever in the desired position:

*P (Parking): For parking the car.
* R (Reverse): To move backwards.
* N (Neutral): For neutral position when the vehicle is not moving.
*D (Drive): For normal forward driving.
* S (Sport): For sportier gear shifting that increases engine speed.
* M (+/-) (Manual): For manual gear shifting.

3. Switch between modes

* To switch between Park (P) and another mode, press the shift lock button next to the shift lever.
* To switch from driving modes (D, S) to neutral (N) or reverse (R), first move the lever to the N position and then to the desired mode.

4. Manual gear shift (M mode)

If your Solaris is equipped with manual shift mode (M), you can manually change gears using the gear lever:

* Shift “up”: Pull the lever back (+).
* Shift “down”: press the lever forward (-).

Adviсe:

*Do not switch between Park (P) and other modes at speed.
* Make sure the vehicle has come to a complete stop before shifting into reverse (R).
*For best fuel economy, stick to D mode and avoid S mode whenever possible.
*Manual mode (M) can be used to improve handling on slopes or when overtaking.
