Required materials:
* Motor oil for automatic transmissions Hyundai SP-IV (about 8 liters)
* New transmission pan gasket
* New transmission filter
* New drain plug bolt
* Magnetic drain bolt (optional)
* Socket wrench, 19 mm
* Wrench with ratchet and extension
* Funnel
*Measuring cup
* Gloves
*Clean rag or paper towels
Steps:
1. Warm up the engine and transmission: Start the vehicle and let it run for a few minutes until the transmission warms up. This will help drain the oil more easily.
2. Stop the engine and set the parking brake: Make sure the vehicle is on a level surface.
3. Open the hood and locate the transmission dipstick: It is usually located near the engine, on the driver’s side. Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth or paper towels.
4. Loosen the drain plug: Crawl under the vehicle and locate the drain plug on the transmission pan. Loosen the plug with a 19 mm socket wrench, but do not unscrew it completely.
5. Drain the oil: Place a container with a capacity of at least 8 liters under the drain plug. Slowly unscrew the plug completely and allow the oil to drain completely. Be careful, the oil may be hot.
6. Replace the transmission pan gasket: Remove the old transmission pan gasket and clean the surface of the pan of gasket and oil residues. Install a new gasket.
7. Clean the transmission pan: Use a clean rag or paper towels to clean the transmission pan of dirt, metal shavings and old oil.
8. Replace the transmission filter: Clean the surface where the filter is attached and remove the old filter. Install the new filter by hand tightening it and then tighten it with a ratchet wrench and extension.
9. Install the drain plug: Install the drain plug with a new gasket. Tighten the drain plug with a ratchet wrench and extension. If you use a magnetic drain bolt, it is installed in place of a regular drain plug.
10. Add new oil: Using a funnel, pour about 4 liters of new oil into the transmission.
11. Check the oil level: Start the engine and run it for a few minutes until the oil warms up. Pull out the transmission dipstick, wipe it clean and reinsert it. The oil level should be between the Min and Max marks.
12. Add oil if necessary: If necessary, add oil to the gearbox until the required level is reached.
13. Check the oil level again: Wipe the dipstick again and insert it. Make sure the oil level is between the Min and Max marks.
14. Reset the oil change meter: Locate the oil change meter reset button on your vehicle (usually located near the dashboard). Keep the button pressed for a few seconds to reset the counter.
15. Finish: Close the hood and properly dispose of the old oil and filter. Enjoy fresh transmission oil!
Adviсe:
* For more thorough cleaning of the transmission, you can remove the pan and clean it separately.
* Change the gearbox oil every 50,000-60,000 km or according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
* Use only oil recommended by the manufacturer.
*If you are unsure of your mechanical abilities, have your oil changed by a qualified mechanic.
