Required tools:
* New automatic transmission temperature sensor
* 10 mm wrench
* 12mm wrench
* Flat head screwdriver
* Container for collecting automatic transmission fluid
Replacement Instructions:
1. Prepare the car
* Park the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake.
* Open the hood and disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Drain the automatic transmission fluid
* Locate the drain plug under the transmission pan and loosen it using a 12mm wrench.
* Place a container under the plug to collect the liquid and drain it.
* Tighten the drain plug back.
3. Disconnect the sensor connector
* Locate the automatic transmission temperature sensor on the automatic transmission housing, usually located on the passenger side.
* Disconnect the electrical connector of the sensor by pressing the latch and pulling the connector.
4. Unscrew the sensor
*Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the sensor and unscrew it.
5. Install a new sensor
* Apply sealant to the threads of the new sensor.
* Screw in the new sensor by hand and then tighten it with a 10mm wrench.
6. Connect the sensor connector
* Connect the electrical connector to the new sensor, snapping it into place.
7. Fill with automatic transmission fluid
* Open the automatic transmission filler plug and fill in fluid in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
*Use a funnel to avoid spilling liquid.
8. Connect the battery
* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
9. Check fluid level
* Start the engine and warm up the car for a few minutes.
* Check the automatic transmission fluid level on the automatic transmission dipstick and add it if necessary.
