Materials and tools:
* Automatic transmission oil (Dexron III or compatible; volume according to the operating instructions)
* New oil pan gasket
* O-ring for pan plug
* Set of keys and screwdrivers
* Oil drain container
* Funnel
* Gloves
The procedure for changing the oil in a Hyundai Getz automatic transmission:
1. Preparing the car:
* Place the car on a flat surface.
* Apply the handbrake.
2. Draining old oil:
* Warm up the engine and transmission by driving the vehicle a short distance.
* Open the hood and disconnect the negative battery terminal.
* Place a container to drain the oil under the automatic transmission pan.
* Locate the pan drain plug and loosen it using a wrench.
* Carefully unscrew the plug by hand and drain the old oil into a container.
*Wait until all the oil has drained.
3. Replacing the gasket and O-ring:
* Clean the surface of the automatic transmission pan and the gasket from any remaining old oil.
* Install a new gasket on the pan.
* Install a new O-ring on the drain plug.
4. Installing the pallet in place:
* Lift the automatic transmission pan and align it with the seat.
* Tighten the pan bolts to the specified torque (see owner’s manual).
5. Filling with new oil:
* Locate the filler plug on the automatic transmission.
* Open the hood and pour new oil into the automatic transmission through a funnel.
* Fill in oil until it begins to flow out of the filler hole.
6. Checking the oil level:
* Reinstall the filler plug and tighten it to the specified torque.
* Start the engine and shift the gear selector to all positions, holding it in each position for a few seconds.
* Check the oil level using the automatic transmission dipstick. The oil level should be between the «MIN» and «MAX» marks on the dipstick.
*Add oil if necessary.
7. Completion:
* Make sure the drain plug and filler plug are tight.
* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
*Take a test drive to ensure that the automatic transmission operates correctly.
