How to use an automatic transmission in a Hyundai Getz

Gear Shifter:

* P (Parking): Used when parking or making long stops. Blocks the transmission.
* R (Reverse): Activates reverse gear.
* N (Neutral): Disconnects the transmission from the engine. Used for towing or for short stops.
* D (Drive): Basic driving mode. Changes gears automatically depending on speed and load.
* L (Low): Used for driving uphill or when towing heavy loads.

Operation:

1. Starting the engine:
* Insert the ignition key and turn it to position «II».
*Press the brake pedal.
* Move the gear lever to the «P» or «N» position.
* Start the engine.

2. Downshifting:
* While driving, press the brake pedal to slow down.
* Move the gear shift lever to the «L» position when the speed becomes low enough.

3. Upshift:
*In most cases, the transmission will automatically shift to a higher gear as speed increases.
* For acceleration, you can move the gear lever to the «D» position at any time.

4. Parking:
* Press the brake pedal and move the gear shift lever to the «P» position.
* Turn off the engine.
* Remove the ignition key.

Adviсe:

* Do not shift to «P» while driving. This may damage the transmission.
* Do not keep your foot on the brake pedal for a long time, even if you are at a traffic light. This leads to wear on the brake pads.
* When driving on steep inclines or on slippery surfaces, it may be useful to shift to «L» for better traction.
* Check the transmission fluid level regularly and top up if necessary.
