Tools and materials:

* New automatic transmission oil temperature sensor
*Socket wrench or wrench of appropriate size
* Container for collecting old oil
*Clean cloth or towel
* Sealant for threaded connections (optional)

Replacement steps:

1. Ensure safety. Park the car on a level surface, turn off the engine and let it cool. Set the parking brake.

2. Find the automatic transmission oil temperature sensor. It is usually located on the automatic transmission oil pan or on the transmission housing.

3. Disconnect the electrical connector. Locate the electrical connector connected to the sensor and carefully disconnect it by pressing down on the latch tab.

4. Drain some automatic transmission oil. Place a container to collect old oil under the sensor. Using a socket wrench or wrench, carefully unscrew the sensor. A small amount of oil will come out of the hole.

5. Pull out the old sensor. When the oil stops flowing, remove the old sensor completely. Make sure the O-ring is still on the sensor.

6. Clean the threads. Use a clean cloth or towel to clean any dirt or debris from the sensor hole threads.

7. Apply sealant (optional). For additional sealing, you can apply a small amount of thread sealant to the threads of the new sensor.

8. Install a new sensor. Screw the new sensor into the hole by hand, and then tighten it with a socket wrench or wrench. Do not overtighten the sensor.

9. Connect the electrical connector. Connect the electrical connector to the new sensor by pressing the latch tab until it locks into place.

10. Check the automatic transmission oil level. Use the automatic transmission dipstick to check the oil level. If necessary, add oil to the required level.

11. Start the engine. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to allow the sensor to cycle. Check for oil leaks around the sensor.

12. Clean up spills. Clean up any oil spills with a clean cloth or towel.
