To flush the automatic transmission filter, you will need the following materials:
* Fresh transmission filter
* Transmission oil for replacement
* Transmission pan with gasket
* Drain plug
* Dipstick
* Cleaning cloth
* Thinner or gasoline as a cleaner
* Funnel
Instructions for cleaning the filter:
1. Prepare the car. Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake. Open the hood and remove the filler cap.
2. Drain the old transmission oil. Locate the drain hole on the transmission pan and place a container underneath to catch the oil. Unscrew the drain plug using a wrench and drain the used oil.
3. Remove the transmission pan. Once the oil is drained, remove the bolts that hold the pan in place. Carefully remove the pan and carefully invert it to drain the remaining oil.
4. Rinse the filter. A filter will be installed on the pan. Carefully remove the filter and wash it with solvent or gasoline using a clean rag. Remove all dirt and deposits from the filter.
5. Replace the filter. Install a new filter into the transmission pan. Make sure it fits snugly in place.
6. Reinstall the transmission pan. Apply sealant to the new gasket and install the pan in place. Tighten the bolts properly.
7. Fill the gearbox with gear oil. Using a funnel, pour fresh transmission oil through the filler hole. Use the amount specified in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
8. Check the oil level. Start the engine and let it idle. Using the dipstick, check the gearbox oil level. Add oil as necessary until the proper level is reached.
Note: Flushing the automatic transmission filter is not an easy procedure and is not recommended for inexperienced users. If you do not have the appropriate skills or tools, it is best to have a qualified mechanic perform this task.
