To warm up the automatic transmission in winter, follow these instructions:
1. Start the engine and let it idle:
* Do not put the vehicle into gear and do not move away.
*Run the engine for a few minutes to warm up the transmission oil.
2. Switch the gear selector to different positions:
*After the engine has warmed up, shift the gear selector to each position (P, R, N, D) for a few seconds.
*This will allow oil to circulate through all transmission components.
3. Drive in a gentle mode:
* When the oil warms up, start driving at low speed.
* Avoid sudden acceleration and stopping for the first few minutes.
4. Increase the load gradually:
*As the transmission warms up, you can gradually increase the load on it.
*Accelerate and brake smoothly.
5. Monitor transmission temperature:
*If your vehicle has a transmission temperature sensor, monitor it and make sure the temperature remains within the acceptable range.
*If the temperature is too high, stop and allow the transmission to cool.
Additional tips:
* Warm up your vehicle indoors to avoid exposure to cold air.
*If possible, use the remote start feature to warm up your vehicle before driving.
* Check the transmission oil level regularly and change it according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
*In extreme cold conditions, the transmission may take longer to warm up.
