How to properly warm up an automatic transmission in winter:

1. Start the engine and let it idle for about 1-2 minutes. This will allow the engine to warm up and begin circulating oil.

2. Move the automatic transmission selector to position “D” or “R”. This will put a little stress on the transmission and help start the oil circulating through it.

3. Apply the brake and hold it. This will prevent the car from moving while you warm up the transmission.

4. Slowly release the brake and at the same time smoothly press the gas pedal. This will allow the transmission to shift into first gear and begin to warm it up.

5. Drive at low speed. This will allow the oil to circulate throughout the gearbox and warm up evenly.

6. Warm up the gearbox for 5-10 minutes. This is necessary so that the oil reaches operating temperature and the gearbox is completely lubricated.

Important Tips:

* Do not engage neutral or park while the transmission is warming up.
* Do not overload the transmission by accelerating suddenly or towing heavy loads.
* Check the transmission fluid level regularly and top up if necessary.
*Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for transmission oil change intervals.

Advantages of warming up the automatic transmission in winter:

* Reduces gearbox wear and damage
* Improves gear shifting
* Extends gearbox life
* Improves fuel economy
