Using the handbrake with automatic transmission (automatic transmission):

1. Place the vehicle in park mode (P). This is to prevent the vehicle from moving when the handbrake is released.

2. Pull the handbrake handle all the way. The handbrake should engage with a distinct click.

3. Release the foot brake pedal. Make sure the car is not moving.

4. Start the engine. The handbrake will remain applied until you are ready to move.

5. To release the handbrake, press the handbrake release button on the gear shift handle or press the release button on the instrument panel, and then smoothly release the handbrake handle.

Notes:

* Do not use the handbrake to hold the vehicle in place while the engine is idling or driving. This can lead to premature wear of the brake pads and rotors.
* Check and adjust the handbrake regularly to ensure proper operation.
* If the handbrake does not release or tighten properly, contact a garage as soon as possible.
