Operating instructions for Kia Sportage automatic transmission
Mode selection:
*P (Parking): Used to park the vehicle. The parking brake is applied.
* R (Reverse): For reversing.
* N (Neutral): The transmission is not engaged. The car will not move.
* D (Drive): Basic mode for normal driving. The gearbox automatically switches to optimal speeds.
* S (Sport): More aggressive shift mode. Holds gears longer, delivering more power and acceleration.
* M (Manual): Manual gear shift mode. The driver can independently upshift or downshift using the gear selector or steering wheel paddle shifters (if equipped).
Driver actions:
1. Starting the engine:
* Make sure the gear selector is in position P.
*Press the brake pedal.
* Start the engine.
2. Switching modes:
* Press the gear selector unlock button located on the handle.
* Move the selector to the desired mode.
3. Movement:
* Take your foot off the brake pedal and the car will start moving.
4. Braking:
* If necessary, press the brake pedal to slow down or stop.
5. Parking:
* Stop the car.
* Move the gear selector to position P.
* Apply the parking brake.
* Turn off the engine.
Important:
* Do not change transmission modes while driving.
*Always press the brake pedal before changing modes.
* Do not tow the vehicle in N position.
* When towing, use special equipment and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
