Instructions for driving a car with an automatic transmission:
1. Familiarize yourself with the gear selector:
* The gear selector is usually located on the center console between the driver and passenger seats.
*Check the shift pattern on the selector or in the owner’s manual.
2. Starting the engine:
* Depress the brake pedal and move the gear selector to Park (P).
* Insert the ignition key and turn it to the «On» position.
* Start the engine.
3. Gear shift:
* Take your foot off the brake pedal and press the gas pedal to move forward.
*As you gain speed, the transmission will automatically shift to higher gears.
* To drive in reverse, press the button or release the lock and move the gear selector to the «Reverse» (R) position.
4. Riding modes:
* Most automatic transmissions have different driving modes, such as:
* D (Drive): Default mode for normal driving.
* S (Sport): Shifts gears more aggressively for improved acceleration.
* L (Low): Keeps the vehicle in a low gear for better control on steep slopes or slippery surfaces.
5. Switching to manual control:
* Some automatic transmissions are equipped with manual gear shifting (tiptronic).
* This can usually be done using the steering wheel paddle shifters or by moving the gear selector into the side guides.
* It allows the driver to manually control gears to improve performance or save fuel.
6. Parking:
* Once stopped, fully depress the brake pedal and move the gear selector to the Park (P) position.
* Remove the ignition key from the lock.
Adviсe:
* Always wait until the vehicle has come to a complete stop before changing gears from forward to reverse or vice versa.
* Do not shift into neutral (N) while driving at high speed.
* Do not use the gearbox to brake the vehicle.
* Regularly check the fluid level in the automatic transmission in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
