Using an automatic transmission
Shifting gears
*P (Parking): Used to park the vehicle.
* R (Reverse): Used to move backwards.
* N (Neutral): Disconnects the engine from the transmission, allowing the vehicle to roll freely.
* D (Drive): Used to move forward at all speeds.
* L (Low): Used for driving at low speeds and steep inclines. Some cars also have modes 1, 2 and 3.
Switching modes
* D -> D3: Switches to limited driving mode with three gears.
* D -> D2: Switches to limited driving mode with two gears.
* D -> S (Sport): Switches to Sport mode, optimizing gear changes for faster response and more power.
* D -> M (Manual): Allows you to manually change gears using the steering wheel paddles or the gear lever.
Other functions
*B (Engine Braking): Uses the engine to slow the vehicle, creating the effect of engine braking.
* O/D (Overdrive): Prevents overdrive, useful when driving on steep grades or when towing.
* Eco Mode: Optimizes gear shifting and vehicle functions to improve fuel economy.
Tips for use
* Always press the brake pedal before changing gears.
* Do not engage reverse gear while the vehicle is moving forward.
* Do not put the vehicle into park while the vehicle is moving.
* Use engine braking to slow the vehicle whenever possible to extend brake life.
* Move the gearshift lever to neutral during long stops (for example, during traffic jams).
* Perform regular automatic transmission maintenance, including fluid and filter changes.
