Using an automatic transmission (AT)
1. Starting the engine:
* Press the brake pedal and move the transmission selector to the “P” (park) or “N” (neutral) position.
* Insert the key and turn it to the “ON” position.
* Start the engine.
2. Gear selection:
* To drive in forward gear, move the selector to position “D” (drive).
* To drive in reverse, move the selector to the “R” (reverse) position.
* For neutral (when the car is not moving), move the selector to the “N” position.
* To park, move the selector to position “P”.
3. Start of movement:
* Remove your foot from the brake pedal and gently press the accelerator pedal.
* The car will start moving on its own, without the need to change gears.
4. Stop:
*Press the brake pedal to stop the car.
* Move the selector to the “P” or “N” position if you plan to stand still for more than a few seconds.
5. Downshifting (kick-down mode):
* When you press the accelerator pedal all the way (hard acceleration), the transmission will automatically downshift to increase power and torque.
6. Manual gear shift:
* Some automatic transmissions have the ability to manually shift gears. This is usually done using the steering wheel paddle shifters or gear lever.
*Manual shifting can be useful for going down a hill, overtaking, or maintaining a gear at high speeds.
Tips for use:
* Always move the gear selector smoothly.
* Do not shift into reverse when the vehicle is moving forward.
* Do not put the car in “P” mode when the car is moving.
* Maintain the automatic transmission regularly, following the manufacturer’s recommendations.
