How to use a CVT gearbox

The Variable Variable Transmission (CVT) differs from traditional automatic transmissions by continuously changing gear ratios, providing a smooth and dynamic driving experience.

CVT control

* Gear selector: Typically has positions P (park), R (reverse), N (neutral), D (forward) and L (low gear).
* Shift Lever: Used to move the gear selector between positions.
*Brake Pedal: Press the brake pedal to operate the shift lever.

Using CVT

Starting the engine:

1. Make sure the gear selector is in P or N position.
2. Press the brake pedal.
3. Turn the ignition key to start the engine.

Moving forward:

1. While holding the brake pedal, move the gear selector to position D.
2. Release the brake pedal and the car will start moving.
3. Press the gas pedal to accelerate.

Reverse:

1. While holding the brake pedal, move the gear selector to position R.
2. Slowly release the brake pedal and, if necessary, press the gas pedal.

Low gear (L):

*Used to increase traction and control speed on steep slopes or when towing.
* Move the gear selector to position L to activate downshift.

Driving modes (if available):

*Some CVT vehicles have driving modes such as standard, sport or economy.
* Select the desired mode to change the gear shift pattern.

Tips for driving CVT:

* Avoid sudden acceleration and braking as this may cause vibration or damage.
*When driving on steep slopes, use a lower gear for added control and safety.
* Change the transmission fluid regularly, following the manufacturer’s recommendations.
*If you experience any problems with the CVT, seek assistance from a qualified mechanic.
