If you have lost your key and the car is locked
1. Contact your Toyota dealer. They can create a new key using your vehicle’s VIN number.
2. Hire a locksmith. A locksmith can pick the door lock and open the car. However, this may damage the lock.
3. Use a tablet and an OBD2 scanner. Some tablets and OBD2 scanners allow you to program new keys for some Toyota models.
If you locked your keys in the car
1. Use a spare key. If you have a spare key, you can use it to open the car.
2. Call roadside assistance. Roadside Assistance can send a technician to open your vehicle.
3. Insert a paperclip or wire into the keyhole. You may be able to use a paperclip or wire to pry up the lock button or raise the lock pin. This may only work with some car models.
After you unlock the car
Regardless of how you unlocked the car, you will need to reprogram the immobilizer in order to start the engine. This can be done through a Toyota dealer or using a tablet and OBD2 scanner.
