Steps to start an automatic car in winter:
1. Turn the ignition key to ACC: This will allow the vehicle’s electrical systems to turn on without starting the engine.
2. Turn on the headlights for a few seconds: This will warm up the battery and make it more capable of starting.
3. Turn off the headlights and switch the ignition to the ON position: This will prepare the engine to start.
4. Press the brake pedal: This will turn on the brake lights and unlock the gear selector.
5. Place the gear selector in the “park” position (P): This will ensure that the engine starts freely without putting the vehicle in motion.
6. Turn the ignition key to the START position: Turn the key clockwise to start the engine.
7. Keep the key turned for approximately 5 seconds or until the engine starts: Do not start the engine for more than 10 seconds at a time. If the engine does not start, pause and repeat the process.
8. Release the key and wait a few seconds: Allow the engine to idle to build up speed and lubricate the moving parts.
9. Move the transmission selector to the “drive” position (D): This will prepare the vehicle for movement.
10. Slowly release the brake pedal: The vehicle will begin to move forward.
Additional tips:
* Before starting the engine, depress and release the brake pedal several times to build up pressure in the hydraulic brake system.
* If the engine does not start after several attempts, seek professional help.
* Do not use the “kick-down” function as this may damage the transmission.
*If you encounter problems when shifting gears, contact your auto repair shop for diagnosis and repair.
* Maintain your vehicle regularly to ensure optimal performance in winter conditions.
