Switching the automatic transmission while driving
1. Make sure it’s safe. Before shifting the gear selector, make sure the road is clear and you can maneuver safely.
2. Take your foot off the accelerator pedal. This is necessary to prevent gear shifting under load, which could damage the transmission.
3. Press the button or move the lever to the desired position. Typically, downshifting requires pressing the “-” button or moving the lever down, and upshifting requires pressing the “+” button or moving the lever up.
4. Release the button or lever. Once the selector is in the desired position, release the button or lever.
5. Press the gas pedal. After changing gear, you can continue driving by pressing the gas pedal.
Important Notes:
* Do not change gears too frequently as this may cause overheating or damage to the transmission.
* Do not shift into neutral when coasting. This may result in loss of control of the vehicle.
*If you need to manually shift the transmission, such as when stuck in snow or mud, consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual for specific instructions.
*Different car models may have different automatic transmission features, so it is always recommended to check your vehicle’s owner’s manual before shifting gears manually.
