Via transmission control unit (TCU)

1. Connect the OBD-II scanner to the vehicle’s diagnostic connector.
2. Enter the Transmission Control Unit (TCU).
3. Find the “Reset automatic transmission adaptation” function or similar.
4. Follow the instructions on the scanner screen to reset the adaptation.

Via physical connector

1. Turn off the engine.
2. Open the hood and find the connector for resetting the automatic transmission adaptation. It is usually referred to as “ML” or “EGS”.
3. Insert the special reset tool into the connector. It can be purchased from auto parts stores or your Volkswagen dealer.
4. Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position (but do not start the engine).
5. Touch the contacts of the reset tool to short them for 5-10 seconds.
6. Remove the reset tool and turn the ignition key to the “OFF” position.

Through the training procedure

1. Drive the car for 50-100 km, alternating all gear shift modes (Drive, Reverse, Sport, etc.).
2. Make several stops and starts.
3. The automatic transmission will automatically adjust the adaptation according to your driving conditions.

Note:

* Before resetting the automatic transmission adaptation, it is recommended to change the gearbox oil and filter.
* After resetting the automatic transmission adaptation, it may take some time to learn the new driving conditions.
*If the automatic transmission problem is not resolved after resetting the adaptation, you may need to contact a qualified mechanic.
