Reset automatic transmission adaptation BMW X5 E53
Required tools:
* BMW diagnostic scanner (eg INPA or ISTA)
Procedure:
1. Connect the diagnostic scanner to the vehicle.
2. Launch the diagnostic software.
3. Select the model and year of manufacture of the BMW X5 E53.
4. Go to the transmission module.
5. Select the “Automatic transmission adaptation” option.
6. Click the “Reset adaptation” button.
7. Wait a few seconds for the reset process to complete.
8. Turn off the ignition.
9. Wait about 30 minutes.
10. Start the engine and let it idle for 15 minutes.
11. Take a test drive to check the gear shift.
Note:
* Be sure to perform this procedure when changing the automatic transmission oil or after significant repair work related to the transmission.
* Resetting adaptation may result in smoother shifting and improved fuel economy.
*If shifting problems persist after resetting the adaptation, further diagnosis and repair may be required.
