Resetting automatic transmission adaptation in Kia Sportage 4
Required tools:
* OBD2 scanner (eg ELM327)
* Mobile application for diagnostics (for example, Torque Pro)
Steps:
1. Connect the OBD2 scanner to the vehicle’s diagnostic connector. The connector is usually located under the steering column.
2. Launch the mobile diagnostic application on your smartphone. Make sure that the application supports automatic transmission adaptation reset.
3. Establish a connection between the scanner and the application. Follow the app’s instructions to establish a connection with the transmission control module (TCM).
4. Go to the automatic transmission adaptation reset parameter. It is usually located in the “Transmission” or “Automatic Transmission” section.
5. Select the reset adaptation option. The application may ask for confirmation before performing a reset.
6. Start the engine and let it run. This will allow the TCM to reboot and apply the updated settings.
7. Disconnect the OBD2 scanner and turn off the engine.
Note:
*Always follow the instructions for your specific diagnostic mobile app as the steps may vary slightly.
* Resetting the automatic transmission adaptation may result in initial unstable gear shifting. This is normal and the system will adapt to your driving style after a short period of use.
* If automatic transmission adaptation fails, contact a qualified mechanic.
