Materials and tools:
* Rear crankshaft oil seal
* Sealing sealant
* Automatic transmission fluid
* New automatic transmission filter element and pan gasket
* Driver and socket heads
* Torque wrench
* Metal brush
* Parts cleaner
* Rags
* Lift or jack with safety stands
Instructions:
1. Prepare the car:
* Place the vehicle on a lift or use a jack with safety stands.
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Drain the automatic transmission fluid.
2. Remove the automatic transmission:
* Disconnect the driveshaft from the rear axle flange.
* Disconnect all electrical connectors and hoses from the automatic transmission.
* Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission to the engine and remove it.
3. Remove the old oil seal:
* Clean the area around the old oil seal with a metal brush and parts cleaner.
* Carefully remove the oil seal using a flathead screwdriver or special tool.
4. Install a new oil seal:
* Lubricate the new oil seal with ATF oil.
* Insert the oil seal into the socket using a mandrel or by hand.
* Make sure the oil seal is flush with the cylinder block.
5. Apply sealant:
* Apply a thin bead of sealant to the outer edge of the oil seal and to the mating surface of the cylinder block.
6. Install the automatic transmission:
* Reinstall the automatic transmission and tighten the mounting bolts according to the specified tightening torques.
* Connect all electrical connectors and hoses.
* Install the driveshaft.
7. Fill the automatic transmission with fluid:
* Pour automatic transmission fluid into the gearbox.
* Warm up the engine and change all gears to distribute the fluid.
* Check the fluid level and add if necessary.
8. Install the filter element and automatic transmission pan gasket:
* Remove the automatic transmission pan.
* Replace the filter element and pan gasket with new ones.
* Reinstall the pan and tighten the mounting bolts according to the specified tightening torques.
9. Complete assembly:
* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Lower the car.
* Check for leaks.
