Materials and tools:

* New automatic transmission main oil seal
* Transmission fluid
* Transmission sealant
*Socket head of appropriate size
* Torque wrench
* Pliers
* Flat head screwdriver
* Brush with metal bristles
* Rags

Steps:

1. Draining transmission fluid:
— Place the car on a lift or place jacks under it.
— Open the oil pan drain plug and drain the fluid into a suitable container.

2. Removing the oil pan:
— Unscrew the bolts securing the oil pan.
— Carefully remove the pan, holding the gasket.

3. Removing the old oil seal:
— Identify the old main oil seal. It is usually located in the center of the oil pan.
— Use a flathead screwdriver or a suitable tool to pry up the lip of the seal.
— Carefully remove the old oil seal.

4. Preparing a new oil seal:
— Lubricate the lips of the new oil seal with a small drop of transmission fluid.
— Coat a small area around the oil seal seat with transmission sealant.

5. Installing a new oil seal:
— Insert the new oil seal in place of the old one.
— Use your fingers to manually push the oil seal until it stops.
— Place pliers on the protruding lip of the oil seal and gently pull until it is fully seated.

6. Installing the oil pan:
— Clean the surface of the oil pan and gearbox housing from old sealant using a wire brush.
— Apply new sealant to the clean surface of the oil pan.
— Install the gasket onto the oil pan and carefully attach it to the transmission housing.
— Tighten the oil pan bolts with a torque wrench to manufacturer specifications.

7. Filling transmission fluid:
— Pour fresh gear oil into the gearbox through the filler hole.
— Check the fluid level and add if necessary.

8. Cleaning and checking the tread:
— Clean the area around the oil pan of any spilled liquid.
— Start the engine and let the gearbox run for a while.
— Check the pan and surrounding area for leaks.
