Required tools and materials:
* New automatic transmission solenoid
* Transmission fluid
* Metal brush
* Carburetor cleaner
* Torque wrench
* Set of keys or sockets
Steps:
1. Prepare the vehicle: Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake. Allow the engine to cool.
2. Drain the transmission fluid: Find the drain plug on the automatic transmission pan and drain the fluid into a container.
3. Remove the transmission pan: Remove the bolts around the transmission pan and carefully remove it from the transmission. The pan gasket may stick to the pan or transmission, so remove it carefully.
4. Clean the pan and transmission: Clean the pan and the area around it on the transmission with a wire brush and carburetor cleaner. Remove any deposits or debris.
5. Find the solenoid: The solenoid is usually located on the automatic transmission housing next to the pan. Determine its location and disconnect the electrical connector.
6. Remove the solenoid: Using a torque wrench, remove the bolts securing the solenoid. Be careful not to drop the bolts into the transmission pan.
7. Remove Solenoid: Pull the solenoid out of the transmission. The solenoid gasket may remain on the transmission housing, so remove it carefully.
8. Install a new solenoid: Insert a new solenoid gasket onto the transmission housing. Insert the solenoid into the transmission and tighten the bolts using a torque wrench to the specified value.
9. Connect the electrical connector: Connect the electrical connector to the solenoid.
10. Install the automatic transmission pan: Install a new pan gasket on the automatic transmission pan. Apply sealant to the corners of the gasket and install the pan to the transmission. Tighten the bolts around the pan using a torque wrench to the specified value.
11. Fill the transmission fluid: Fill the transmission with new transmission oil. Check the fluid level with the dipstick and adjust as necessary.
12. Check for leaks: Start the engine and run for a few minutes. Check the automatic transmission pan and connections for leaks.
