Materials and tools:

* Set of socket wrenches or ratchets
* Extension for socket wrench
* Pliers
* Screwdriver
* Drain pan
* Bucket or container for draining liquid

Security measures:

* Make sure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
* Allow the engine to cool before operating.

Torque converter removal procedure:

1. Draining liquid:

* Locate the drain plug on the transmission pan.
* Place a pan under the drain plug.
* Unscrew the drain plug and drain the liquid.

2. Transmission disconnection:

* Unscrew the bolts securing all pipelines going to the transmission.
* Disconnect the electrical connector from the shift solenoids.
* Disconnect the shift cable.
* While supporting the transmission with a jack, remove the bolts securing the transmission to the engine.

3. Removing the torque converter:

* Disconnect the drive shaft from the torque converter using pliers and a screwdriver.
* Carefully separate the torque converter from the engine flywheel.
* Remove the torque converter along with the pump stator.

4. Replacing the torque converter:

* Install a new torque converter with a new O-ring.
* Install the pump stator.
* Connect the torque converter to the engine flywheel.
* Connect the drive shaft to the torque converter.

5. Transmission assembly:

*Attach the transmission to the engine and tighten the bolts.
* Connect all lines, electrical connector and shift cable.
* Tighten the drain plug and fill with new transmission fluid.

6. Checking the fluid level:

* Start the engine and let it idle.
* Check the transmission fluid level and add if necessary.

7. Test:

* Shift gears and check that the transmission is operating correctly.
