Tools and materials:

* Transmission repair tool kit
* Slotted hammer or screwdriver
* WD-40 or similar penetrating compound
* Circlip pliers or needle nose pliers
* Straight grinder or drill with grinding stone (optional)

Steps:

1. Remove the transmission. This may be required depending on the vehicle model. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for removing the transmission.

2. Disconnect the drive shaft. Remove the bolts holding the drive shaft to the axle flange using a wrench or socket wrench.

3. Remove the standing ring. Place circlip pliers or needle nose pliers on the circlip that holds the inner CV joint inside the transmission. Remove the old ring from the groove.

4. Pull out the inner CV joint. Tap the outer end of the inner CV joint with a slotted hammer or screwdriver to loosen its connection to the transmission shaft. Then pull the inner CV joint by hand to remove it from the transmission.

5. If the CV joint is stuck:

* Spray WD-40 or another penetrating compound onto the transmission shaft and inner CV joint and let it sit for a few minutes.
*Use a straight grinder or drill with a grinding stone to make a small cut on the transmission shaft near the inner CV joint. The cut should be deep enough to loosen the connection without damaging the shaft.
* Perform steps 4 to 5 again to remove the inner CV joint.

Adviсe:

* Be careful not to damage the CV boot when removing it.
* When installing a new inner CV joint, be sure to use a new lock washer.
* Check the condition of the lubricant inside the gearbox and add more lubricant if necessary.
