Tools and materials:
*Socket wrench set or wrench
* Rotary ratchet wrench
* Telescopic magnet (optional)
Instructions:
1. Disconnect the battery. To do this, remove the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
2. Locate the transmission housing. The gearbox housing is located at the bottom of the engine compartment. It looks like a large metal box.
3. Remove the cover bolts. Use a socket wrench or wrench to remove the bolts holding the transmission cover in place. Typically the bolt size used is 10mm, 12mm or 14mm.
4. Remove the cover. Once the bolts are removed, carefully remove the cover from the transmission housing. The lid may be heavy so be careful.
5. Use a telescopic magnet (optional). If you drop any bolt or nut inside the transmission, you can use a telescopic magnet to remove it.
6. Lift the cover onto the spacer (optional). You can use a spacer or stick to hold the lid in place. This will free your hands to do other tasks.
Adviсe:
*Use lubricant on the bolts to make removal easier.
* Be careful not to drop any bolts or nuts inside the transmission.
* Label bolts and nuts to facilitate subsequent installation.
