Removing the automatic transmission handle on a Range Rover Sport

Tools:

* Torx key set
* Flat head screwdriver
* New battery (if necessary)

Instructions:

1. Disconnect the battery

* Open the hood.
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Remove the plastic shift lever cover

* Use a flathead screwdriver to pry up the plastic trim around the gear shift lever and remove it.

3. Remove the upper part of the gear shift lever

*Locate the two Torx screws located under the plastic trim you just removed.
* Remove the Torx screws and remove the upper part of the gear lever.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector

* Disconnect the electrical connector from the bottom of the shift lever.

5. Remove the lower part of the gear shift lever

*Locate the three Torx screws located on the bottom of the shift lever.
* Remove the Torx screws and remove the lower part of the gear lever.

6. Install a new automatic transmission handle (if necessary)

* Align the new automatic transmission handle with the gear shift lever.
* Insert the bottom of the shift lever into place and tighten the three Torx screws.
* Connect the electrical connector.

7. Install the upper part of the gear shift lever

*Place the top of the gear lever in place.
* Tighten the two Torx screws.

8. Install the plastic shift lever cover

*Place the plastic cover over the shift lever and snap it into place.

9. Connect the battery

* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Check the correct operation of the automatic transmission handle.

Adviсe:

* Before starting work, remove jewelry to prevent damage.
*If you are replacing the battery with a new one, make sure you have the correct code to unlock the audio system after reconnecting the battery.
