Materials and tools:
* Set of wrenches and sockets
* Installation
* Container for draining transmission fluid
* New transmission fluid filter (if necessary)
* New transmission fluid
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
Steps to remove automatic transmission:
1. Preparation:
* Place the car on a flat surface.
* Put the car on the parking brake.
* Allow the engine to cool.
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Draining transmission fluid:
* Place a pan under the transmission to drain the fluid.
* Loosen the drain plug in the transmission pan using a hex wrench.
* Allow the liquid to drain completely.
3. Disconnecting connectors and hoses:
* Disconnect all electrical connectors and vacuum hoses from the transmission.
* Disconnect the shift cable.
* Disconnect the coolant hoses from the transmission fluid cooler (if equipped).
4. Unscrewing the pallet bolts:
* Loosen the bolts around the perimeter of the transmission pan.
* Remove the pan from the gearbox.
5. Removing the filter:
* Remove the old transmission fluid filter from the pan.
* Install the new filter in its place.
6. Disconnection from the engine:
* Raise the vehicle on stands or a lift.
* Disconnect the left transmission mount.
* Remove the bolts securing the gearbox to the engine.
7. Disconnecting the gearbox and engine:
* Place the mounting bracket between the gearbox and the engine.
* Gently press the joint until the transmission is separated from the engine.
8. Pulling out the gearbox:
* Carefully remove the transmission from the engine compartment.
* Remove the torque converter (if equipped) or flywheel.
Advice:
* When loosening bolts, use a torque wrench to avoid overtightening them.
* Install a new gasket on the transmission pan before assembly.
*Pour new transmission fluid into the gearbox after assembly.
