Tools and materials:
* Set of metric wrenches and ratchets
* Transmission jack
* Car stands
* Drain pan
* New transmission pan gasket
* New gear oil
Procedure for removing the Mitsubishi Outlander automatic transmission:
1. Preparing the car
* Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Jacking up the car
* Place stands under the machine under the front lifting points.
*Raise the vehicle high enough to provide access to the transmission.
3. Drain transmission oil
* Install a drain pan under the transmission pan.
* Unscrew the drain plug using a wrench or hex key.
* Allow the transmission oil to drain completely.
4. Disconnecting connectors and hoses
* Disconnect all electrical connectors going to the transmission.
* Disconnect any vacuum hoses or oil pipes connected to the transmission.
5. Disconnecting drive shafts
* Remove the bolts securing the drive shafts to the wheel hubs.
* Pull the drive shafts out of the gearbox.
6. Unscrewing the gearbox fasteners
* Remove all bolts securing the transmission to the engine and frame.
7. Preparing the transmission jack
* Place the transmission jack under the transmission.
* Make sure the jack is securely supporting the transmission.
8. Removing the gearbox
* Slowly lower the transmission jack to lower the transmission.
* Carefully pull the transmission out of the engine compartment.
9. Replacing the pan gasket (optional)
* If the transmission pan is removed, replace the gasket with a new one.
10. Gearbox installation
* Raise the transmission using a transmission jack to the appropriate installation position.
* Carefully insert the transmission into the engine compartment.
* Tighten all bolts securing the transmission.
11. Connection of drive shafts
*Insert the drive shafts into the gearbox.
* Tighten the bolts securing the drive shafts to the wheel hubs.
12. Connecting connectors and hoses
* Reconnect any electrical connectors and vacuum hoses that were disconnected.
13. Filling transmission oil
* Pour transmission oil into the gearbox through the filler hole.
* Check the oil level using the dipstick.
14. Lowering the car
* Lower the vehicle from the stands.
* Install the drain plug and tighten it.
15. Battery connection
* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
16. Testing
* Start the engine and check the gear shift for proper operation.
Note: Removing the automatic transmission is a complex process and is recommended to be performed by a qualified mechanic unless you have sufficient skill and experience.
