How to remove the automatic transmission lock:

1. Check the parking brake:

* Make sure the parking brake is set and the vehicle is securely secured.
* Release the brake pedal.

2. Insert the key into the ignition:

* Insert the ignition key into the ignition switch and turn it to the ‘On’ position. (but don’t start the engine).

3. Press the brake pedal:

* While continuing to hold the ignition key in the ‘On’ position, press the brake pedal fully.

4. Shift the gear lever:

*Most automatic transmission vehicles have a button or special shift lever position that must be activated when the lock is released.
* The normal shift sequence is: ‘Park’ (P) -> ‘Neutral’ (N) -> ‘Drive’ (D).
* Shift the gearshift while holding down the brake pedal.
* If the gearshift lever does not shift smoothly, rock it slightly from side to side while continuing to depress the brake pedal.

5. Release the ignition key:

* After shifting the gear shift lever to the desired position, release the ignition key.

6. Start the engine:

* Turn the ignition key to the ‘Start’ position to start the engine.
* Check whether the gearbox lock is released. The car should move forward or backward, depending on the selected mode.

Tips to prevent transmission locking:

* Always set the vehicle’s parking brake, especially on slopes.
* Do not place heavy objects on the gear lever.
*Service the transmission regularly according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
* Avoid sudden acceleration and braking.
*If you have trouble removing the transmission lock, take it to a mechanic for inspection and repair.
