Required tools:
* Set of wrenches
*Socket set
* Ratchet screwdriver
* Extension for socket heads
* Funnel
* Container for draining liquid
Removing a Taiwanese Ford Escape automatic transmission:
1. Safety measures
* Stop the engine and let it cool.
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Install wheel chocks under the rear wheels.
2. Draining transmission fluid
* Locate the drain plug in the transmission pan.
* Place a container to drain the liquid.
* Unscrew the drain plug and drain the liquid.
* Close the drain plug.
3. Disconnecting electrical connectors
* Locate and disconnect all electrical connectors from the transmission.
*Be sure to label the connectors to ensure correct connections when reassembling.
4. Disconnecting the drive shaft
* Remove the front wheels.
* Unscrew the nuts securing the drive shafts to the hubs.
* Remove the drive shafts and set them aside.
5. Unscrewing the transmission mounting bolts
*Locate the bolts holding the transmission to the engine and subframe.
*Unscrew these bolts, but do not remove them completely.
6. Preparing to lower the transmission
* Place a jack under the transmission.
* Lower the jack slowly to relieve the load on the mounting bolts.
7. Removing the transmission
* Completely remove the mounting bolts.
* Carefully separate the transmission from the engine and subframe.
* Lower the transmission using a jack.
8. Transportation of a removed automatic transmission
* Immerse the removed transmission in a suitable container or secure it to a shipping pallet.
* Make sure the transmission is protected from damage during transport.
Notes:
*When removing the transmission, it is recommended to use guide pins to ensure proper alignment during installation.
* Before installing a new transmission, inspect it for damage and replace it if necessary.
* All mounting bolts must be tightened to the specified torque.
