Method 1: Restart the engine

1. Stop the car on the side of the road.
2. Turn off the engine.
3. Wait a few minutes.
4. Start the engine again.
5. Move the gear selector to the “D” or “R” position.

Method 2: Resetting the Battery Terminal

1. De-energize the vehicle by disconnecting the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
2. Wait a few minutes.
3. Reconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
4. Start the engine.
5. Move the gear selector to the “D” or “R” position.

Method 3: Using an OBD-II scanner

1. Connect the OBD-II scanner to the vehicle’s diagnostic port.
2. Read transmission related trouble codes.
3. Reset trouble codes using a scanner.
4. Start the engine.
5. Move the gear selector to the “D” or “R” position.

Additional tips:

*If none of the above methods work, you may need a professional transmission repair.
*Some vehicles have an Emergency button on the center console. Press this button to reset the transmission from limp mode.
* If the transmission fluid level is low, add fluid and check for leaks.
