Tools and materials:
* Jack
* Car stands
* Wrench set
* Head set
* Collar
* Transmission fluid (to be replaced after removal)

1. Set the car to the parking brake
Set the vehicle’s parking brake to prevent it from moving while operating.
2. Raise the car
Use a jack to raise the front of the car. Place stands under your vehicle for added safety.
3. Disconnect the negative battery cable
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery to cut off power to the vehicle.
4. Drain the transmission fluid
Place a container under the transmission and unscrew the drain plug to drain the transmission fluid.
5. Remove the starter
Remove the bolts holding the starter to the engine and disconnect the electrical wires from the starter. Remove the starter.
6. Remove the air filter
Disconnect the air intake hose from the air filter housing and remove the air filter housing.
7. Disconnect shift cables
Disconnect the shift control cable and shift selector cable from the transmission.
8. Disconnect the steering shaft
Disconnect the steering shaft from the steering rack.
9. Disconnect the driveshaft
Disconnect the driveshaft from the transmission.
10. Remove the cross member
Remove the bolts securing the cross member to the frame and body of the car. Remove the cross member.
11. Unscrew the transmission mounting bolts
Remove the bolts securing the transmission to the engine.
12. Lower the transmission
Lower the transmission under the vehicle using a jack or transmission jack.
13. Remove the transmission
Pull the transmission out from under the vehicle.
14. Install a new transmission
Follow steps 12 to 1 in reverse order to install the new transmission.
15. Fill with transmission fluid
Fill the transmission with new transmission fluid.
16. Connect the battery
Connect the negative cable to the battery.
17. Start the car and check the transmission fluid level
Start the car and let it idle. Check the transmission fluid level and add it if necessary.
