Materials and tools:
* 10, 12, 14, 17 and 19 mm wrenches
* Heads for 10, 12, 14, 17 and 19 mm
* Flat head screwdriver
* Phillips screwdriver
* Lift or jacks
* Jack stands
* Container for draining transmission fluid
* New oil pan gasket
*Transmission pan
* New transmission oil filter (optional)
* New transmission fluid
Precautions:
* Disconnect the negative battery cable.
* Drain transmission fluid only when the engine is warm after idling for a few minutes.
* Avoid contact of transmission fluid with eyes or skin.
* Dispose of transmission fluid properly.
The procedure for removing the automatic transmission:
1. Raise the front of the vehicle using a lift or jacks. Install jack stands at the provided points.
2. Drain the transmission fluid from the gearbox by unscrewing the drain plug under the oil pan.
3. Disconnect the shift cable from the transmission.
4. Disconnect the wiring from the transmission.
5. Disconnect the transmission fluid cooling hoses.
6. Remove the starter.
7. Remove the bolts securing the torque converter to the crankshaft.
8. Remove the bolts securing the transmission pan to the transmission.
9. Remove the transmission pan along with the gasket. Replace the gasket with a new one.
10. Remove the transmission oil filter (optional).
11. Remove the bolts securing the gearbox housing to the engine.
12. Using a transmission lift or an assistant, carefully remove the transmission from the engine.
13. Install the new gearbox in the reverse order of removal. Tighten all bolts to the specified torque.
14. Install the transmission oil filter (if necessary).
15. Install the transmission pan with a new gasket.
16. Install the torque converter to the crankshaft and tighten the bolts.
17. Install the starter.
18. Connect the transmission fluid cooling hoses.
19. Connect the wiring to the transmission.
20. Connect the shift cable to the gearbox.
21. Pour new transmission fluid into the gearbox.
22. Install the negative battery cable.
23. Lower the vehicle from the lift or jacks.
24. Start the engine and check the transmission fluid level. Add fluid if necessary.
25. Test drive and check the operation of the gearbox.
