Rules for controlling an automatic transmission:
Starting the engine:
* Make sure the transmission selector is in the “P” (Park) or “N” (Neutral) position.
* Press the brake.
* Turn the ignition key to start the engine.
Gear shift:
* After starting the engine, release the brake and smoothly move the selector lever to the desired position.
* Most cars have the following provisions:
*P – parking
* R – reverse
* N – neutral
* D – driving
* S – sport mode (optional)
* L – reduced mode (optional)
Driving:
* To accelerate, press the gas pedal. The transmission will automatically shift to higher gears as you gain speed.
* To slow down, release the gas pedal. The transmission can automatically downshift to provide engine braking.
*For stronger braking, press the brake pedal.
Parking:
* Stop at the right place and press the brake pedal.
* Move the transmission selector to the “P” (park) position.
* Turn off the engine.
Important Tips:
* Do not change gears manually as this may damage the transmission.
* Do not keep your foot on the brake pedal while driving as this may cause the transmission to overheat.
* Never shift into the “P” (park) position while driving, as this may cause serious damage.
*Check and replace transmission fluid regularly according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
*If you experience any problems with your automatic transmission, contact your mechanic immediately.
