Basic rules for handling an automatic transmission:

Start and movement:

* Only start the vehicle in Park (P) or Neutral (N).
* Make sure the gear selector lever is in the Drive (D) or Reverse (R) position before driving.
*Press the brake pedal before shifting into gear.

Gear shift:

* Shift gears smoothly, avoiding sudden movements.
* Shift to a lower gear when driving downhill or when braking.
* Use Overtake (OD) gear only for short-term power increases, such as when overtaking.

Stopping and parking:

* Stop completely before moving the selector lever into Park (P).
* Set the parking brake after shifting the lever to Park (P).
* Make sure the vehicle is on level ground before leaving it.

Towing:

*Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for towing an automatic transmission vehicle.
* Generally, towing is only permitted with the engine turned off and for short distances.

Other recommendations:

* Do not shift into Neutral (N) while driving.
* Do not try to start the car by pushing it if the automatic transmission is faulty.
*Change transmission fluid and filters regularly according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
* Avoid overloading and towing heavy loads unless permitted by the manufacturer.

Signs of automatic transmission malfunction:

* Difficulty shifting gears
* Gear slippage
* Noises or vibrations when shifting gears
* The automatic transmission fault indicator lights up on the dashboard

If you notice any of these signs, you should contact a qualified mechanic as soon as possible.
