Steps:

1. Prepare the car:

* Place the gear shift lever in the park position.

* Raise the car on a lift or place it on parking blocks.

2. Remove the center console:

3. Loosen the shift cable:

* Locate the shift cable that connects the selector to the transmission.
* Loosen the adjusting nut on the cable.

4. Adjust the position of the selector:

* Place the gear shift lever in the park position.
* Make sure the selector is correctly aligned with the corresponding mark on the console.

5. Tighten the shift cable:

* Tighten the adjusting nut on the shift cable. Make sure the cable is tight enough, but do not overtighten.

6. Check operation:

* Lower the car and start the engine.
* Shift the gear shift lever to all positions to ensure proper operation.

7. Adjust the position of the gear shift lever:

* If the shift lever is misaligned in any direction, adjust its position using the adjusting bolts or nuts, which are usually located on the underside of the selector.

8. Lubricate the gear shift cable:

* Apply a small amount of WD-40 to the shift cable to reduce friction.

9. Assemble the center console:

* Replace the center console and any trim that was removed.
