Adaptation of automatic transmission
Adaptation of an automatic transmission (AT) is a process in which the transmission adapts to the driving style and operating conditions of a particular vehicle. It allows the automatic transmission to operate more smoothly and efficiently.
When automatic transmission adaptation is necessary:
* When replacing an automatic transmission or its components
*After resetting adaptive values
*If you have problems shifting gears
*If driving style or operating conditions change
Adaptation procedure:
1. Travel by car:
* Make sure the vehicle is on a level surface with the engine running.
* Move the gear selector to position ‘D’.
* Drive the car for about 20 km in different modes (urban, suburban, highway).
2. Stopping and switching gear modes:
* Stop at a traffic light or parking lot.
* Switch the gear selector to position ‘N’.
*Wait 5-10 seconds.
* Re-enable ‘D’ mode.
*Wait another 5-10 seconds.
3. Repeat the cycle:
* Repeat the stop and shift cycle 5-6 more times.
4. Checking operation:
* Drive your car at different speeds and under different conditions.
*Note that gear shifts are smooth and have no problems.
Note:
*The time and distance required for adaptation may vary depending on the specific vehicle model and transmission type.
* If automatic transmission problems persist after adaptation, contact a qualified mechanic.
* It is not recommended to carry out adaptation too often, as this can lead to premature wear of automatic transmission components.
