Automatic transmission programming
Programming an automatic transmission is a complex process that requires special equipment and knowledge. This is usually done by qualified specialists at service stations. For self-programming, the following components are required:
Equipment:
* Diagnostic scanner
*Laptop or tablet
* Adapter for connecting to car ECU
* Special software
Programming steps:
1. Connection to ECU:
* Connect the diagnostic scanner to the vehicle via the OBD-II connector.
*Run the programming software and establish connection with the vehicle ECU.
2. ECU identification:
* The software reads the ECU data, including identification number and firmware version.
* Select the appropriate configuration for your vehicle from the software database.
3. Reading current firmware:
* Save the current firmware to your computer for backup.
4. Write new firmware:
* Select new firmware from the software database or download it yourself.
* Using the software, write new firmware to the car’s ECU.
5. Adaptation:
* After recording the new firmware, it is necessary to adapt the automatic transmission.
* This process consists of resetting the adaptive values that the automatic transmission collects over time and teaching it new settings.
Cautions:
* Programming an automatic transmission is an irreversible process. If programming fails, a new transmission will be required.
* Incorrect programming can lead to failure of the automatic transmission or other problems with the car.
*Always consult a professional before performing programming.
