Automatic transmissions do not require the use of a clutch pedal, so when driving a car with an automatic transmission, you only need to use two pedals:
Gas pedal (right pedal)
* Press the gas pedal to speed up the car.
* Release the gas pedal to slow down the car or maintain a constant speed.
Brake pedal (left pedal)
* Press the brake pedal to slow down or stop the car.
* For an emergency stop, press the brake pedal firmly.
Sequence of actions:
1. To start driving, move the gear shift lever to position “D” (drive).
2. Press the gas pedal to start accelerating.
3. To slow down or stop, release the gas pedal and press the brake pedal.
4. To shift into Park (P) or Reverse (R), stop the vehicle completely, move the shift lever to the appropriate position, and pull the shift lever up (on some models).
Adviсe:
* When driving in traffic jams or at low speeds, you can only use the brake pedal to control the vehicle’s speed as the automatic transmission will automatically downshift.
* Do not press the gas pedal and brake pedal at the same time, as this may damage the transmission.
* When parking on a slope, move the gear lever to the Park (P) position and use the parking brake for added safety.
