Parking in the parking lot or garage:
* Pull up to an empty space in front or behind.
* Turn your wheels toward the curb or wall if parking in front, or the opposite curb if parking behind.
* Move the gear selector to the “P” (Park) position.
* Turn off the engine.
* Put the car on the parking brake.
* Place wheel chocks under wheels if necessary for added safety.
Parallel parking using an automatic transmission:
* Drive to a clear space large enough to accommodate your vehicle and make sure there are no obstructions.
*Signal your turn signal to indicate your intention to park.
* Turn the steering wheel to the left until it stops.
* Back up slowly until the front fender of your vehicle is level with the rear bumper of the vehicle in front.
* Turn the steering wheel to the right and continue to back up until your vehicle is parallel to the curb.
* Move the gear selector to the “P” (Park) position.
* Turn off the engine.
* Put the car on the parking brake.
Rear parking in cramped conditions:
* Turn the steering wheel to the left as far as it will go.
* Back up slowly until your vehicle approaches the obstacle.
* Turn the steering wheel to the right 1.5-2 turns and continue to back up, simultaneously turning the steering wheel left and right to maneuver around the obstacle.
* When your vehicle reaches the desired position, move the transmission selector to the “P” (Park) position.
* Turn off the engine.
* Put the car on the parking brake.
Additional tips:
*Use your rearview mirrors and rearview camera (if equipped) for additional visibility.
* Do not park too close to other cars or curbs.
* Leave enough space for doors to open.
* When parking on a slope, turn the wheels toward the curb to prevent the vehicle from rolling away.
*Always turn off the engine and apply the parking brake when parking.
