Materials required for flushing the automatic transmission cooling system:

* Transmission oil that meets the specifications of your automatic transmission
* ATF fluid (automatic transmission fluid)
* Dextron-III or IV
* Canister or tray for waste fluid
* Funnel and hose
* Keys or hexagons for removing the crankcase drain plug
* Rags or gloves

Instructions for flushing the automatic transmission cooling system:

1. Preparation:

* Raise the car on a lift or place it on jacks with secure stands.
* Find the drain plug on the automatic transmission housing and place a canister or pan for waste fluid under it.

2. Draining waste liquid:

* Using wrenches or hexagons, carefully unscrew the drain plug.
* Allow the waste fluid to drain completely.
* Clean the drain plug and replace it with a new gasket if necessary.

3. Filling with ATF fluid:

* Locate the automatic transmission filler hole at the rear of the transmission.
* Insert a funnel into the filler hole and fill in the amount of ATF fluid specified by the manufacturer.
* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.

4. System purging:

* Shift the gear selector to all positions (P, R, N, D) and hold in each of them for several seconds.
* This will pump ATF fluid through the system and displace any remaining waste fluid.

5. Draining the flushing fluid:

* After purging the system, drain the automatic transmission crankcase again following step 2.
* Clean the drain plug and replace the gasket if necessary.

6. Filling with fresh oil:

* Locate the automatic transmission coolant drain hole, which is usually located near the radiator.
* Drain about a liter of fluid from the radiator into a separate container.
* Fill the radiator with the appropriate amount of new transmission oil.

7. Purging the system again:

* Start the engine and let it idle.
* Shift the gear selector to all positions as in step 4.
* Add new transmission oil to the radiator if necessary and monitor its level.

8. Completion:

* When the radiator fluid level reaches the “MAX” mark, turn off the engine.
* Check the fluid level in the automatic transmission crankcase and add if necessary.
* Install the automatic transmission oil filter cap and drain a small amount of oil through the crankcase drain plug. Check the color of the oil. If the oil is clean and free of impurities, the flushing was successful.
* Install the drain plug and tighten it properly.
* Remove the vehicle from the lift or jacks.

Note:

*Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the volume and type of fluid for your automatic transmission.
* If flushing the automatic transmission cooling system is performed after a serious malfunction, repeated flushing may be required to completely remove deposits and impurities.
