Materials you will need:
* Gear oil for automatic transmissions
* Fresh pan plug o-ring
* Transmission filter (if required)
* Tray for collecting old oil
* Funnel
* Wrench or ratchet with a suitable size head
Steps:
1. Gather the necessary materials. Make sure you have all the necessary materials listed above.
2. Prepare the car. Drive the car onto a flat surface. Put it in park and apply the parking brake.
3. Collect old oil. Place a collection pan under the transmission pan drain plug. Loosen the drain plug with a wrench or ratchet. Drain the old oil into the pan. Let drain completely.
4. Remove the pan. Remove the bolts securing the pan to the gearbox. Carefully remove the tray. Be careful, there may be remaining oil in the pan.
5. Replace the filter (if required). If filter replacement is part of your maintenance routine, locate and remove the old filter. Install a new filter.
6. Clean the pan and gasket. Clear the tray of any metal particles or debris. Replace the O-ring on the drain plug with a new one.
7. Reinstall the tray. Apply sealant to the pan seal surface and install the pan in place. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
8. Fill with new oil. Using a funnel, pour the required amount of new gear oil into the gearbox. Refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual for oil capacity and type.
9. Check the oil level. Start the engine and let it idle. Place the shifter in each position and return it to park. Turn off the engine. Check the transmission dipstick and, if necessary, add oil to the “full” mark.
10. Reset the oil service counter (if any). Some automatic transmissions are equipped with an oil service meter that must be reset after an oil change. This can usually be done using a diagnostic scanner. Check your vehicle’s owner’s manual for specific instructions.
Adviсe:
* Check the transmission oil for metal particles or other debris that may indicate transmission problems.
* The transmission oil change interval depends on the vehicle and operating conditions. Consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual for specific recommendations.
* Do not overfill the gearbox as this may cause damage.
