Driving Mercedes-Benz with automatic transmission

1. Starting the engine

*Press the brake pedal.
* Move the gear selector to “P” (park).
* Insert the ignition key and turn it to position “2”.

2. Gear shift

* To change from park mode, press the selector lock button (usually under the steering column).
* Move the gear selector to the desired mode:
* D (Drive): Default control mode for normal driving.
* N (Neutral): Disconnects the transmission from the engine.
* R (reverse): For reversing.
* P (park): Mechanically locks the transmission.

3. Acceleration and braking

* To speed up, simply press the gas pedal.
* To slow down or stop, press the brake pedal.

4. Gear selector modes

* C (Comfort): A mode that provides smooth and comfortable gear shifting.
* S (Sport): Mode that provides faster and sportier gear changes.
* S+ (Sport+): A mode that provides even faster and more aggressive gear changes.
* S- (Sport-): A mode that allows you to manually change gears using the steering wheel paddles.

5. Steering wheel paddle shifters (if equipped)

*If your Mercedes-Benz is equipped with steering wheel paddle shifters, you can use them to manually change gears:
* Right paddle (+): Switch to boost.
*Left paddle (-): Downshift.

6. Hill hold function

* This function prevents the vehicle from rolling away on inclined surfaces. When you release the brake pedal on a slope, the car automatically holds the brakes for a few seconds, giving you time to take off.

7. Auto Hold function

* This feature automatically applies the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) when you stop the vehicle and shift the gear selector to the “P” or “N” position. When you release the brake pedal and press the gas pedal, the EPB is automatically released.

8. Security Features

*Emergency Brake Assist (EBA): Increases brake pressure in emergency situations.
* Anti-Slip System (ASR): Prevents wheels from spinning when accelerating on slippery surfaces.
* Electronic Stability Program (ESP): Helps control the vehicle in skidding or spinning situations.

Adviсe

* When changing from parking mode, always press the brake pedal.
* Do not switch to parking mode while driving.
*If you get stuck in snow or off-road, use S+ mode or use the steering wheel paddle shifters to select lower gears.
* Perform regular vehicle maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
